SUMMARY:Meditation in Community
DESCRIPTION:15 minutes of guided meditation followed by 15 minutes of silence\, and then a bit of time to talk together. Meets in St. Luke’s Zoom meeting room (code: 195-929-940). \nI’ve had people tell me they’ve tried meditation and just can’t do it. But what I’ve found in talking to people is that everybody knows how to meditate and does it naturally and often\, even though they might not know or notice. I’m happy to show you what I mean.  So\, whether you’ve had a “practice” for years or if you’re “new” and just curious\, please join us. \n–Karma Forbes

SUMMARY:Church In The Time of COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Though our church chairs sit empty\, St. Luke Church staff have been rapidly rethinking and transforming the way we engage as a church community. While services have ceased\, the church is alive and well. Here are a few things we have put into place: \n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re In This Together Teams (WITT) \nSo far we have grouped parish into 13 WITT-Teams of 5–6 households. Each team has a leader with whom we ask they check in twice per week (on Thursdays and Mondays). Leaders will share a synopsis with WITT Coordinator\, Lin Cashman\, who will gather what is shared and send it to us in the parish office. This will allow our pastoral staff to know how we may be able to respond to the needs of the whole parish and provide a way for us to share the resources\, skills\, and gifts each of us has to offer one another. \nLive-Streaming Liturgies \nThe amazing Josh deLacy has been at work all week developing our ability to stream a liturgy attended only by parish staff that you may watch on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. (and afterward on our website). We are assembling the technology and equipment we need to produce quality live-stream productions. There will be some up-front costs to this with long-time benefits. See the “Wish List” article for how you can help with this. \nWho’s Zooming Who? \nWe will soon be using  Zoom technology to conduct meetings and classes and other ways multiple people may gather and still be in their own places. Our Lenten class will move to a Zoom format starting this Wednesday at 12 noon and 6:45 PM. (Don’t worry\, you’ll get the hang of it!). To join the class: \n\nDownload and install Zoom on your computer\, tablet\, or phone (free);\nJoin St. Luke’s Zoom meeting by using our room code (930-396-6922) in the Zoom app\, by following this link\, or by pasting https://zoom.us/j/9303966922 into your Internet browser.\n\nPlease keep one another in your prayers\, stay safe\, and hold open your minds with me about the gift of community and the way our consciousnesses will grow during these transformational times. \nFr. Kevin

SUMMARY:Church Services Cancelled — Church Continues
DESCRIPTION:We are cancelling our gatherings where we cannot ensure we are promoting health and well-being. Sunday public services of worship at 8 a.m.\, 10:30 a.m.\, and 1 p.m. will be discontinued\, as will Godly Play and Discovery Classes for the next two weeks and until further notice. \n\n\n\n\n\nIt could be said that bishops order the body of Christ\, priests gather the body of Christ in worship\, and deacons send out the body of Christ to love and serve. Whatever our roles\, we all are and remain the body of Christ. Our bishop has asked that we cease gathering together as members of that body while the our larger body is being assaulted by the COVID-19 virus. The best information we are getting and the best way to care for our whole body’s immunity and health is not to put ourselves in harm’s way\, either as ones susceptible to infection or possible transmitters of disease. Thus\, we will be cancelling our gatherings where we cannot ensure we are promoting health and well-being. In our time\, part of our gospel calling to ministry is to do what we can to blunt the expansion of this virus and stay well ourselves. \nAt this point\, we will continue small group classes where we can ensure our environment is disinfected\, attendees are healthy\, and we are able to maintain adequate distance from one another. We will not share food\, drink\, or utensils. We will not come into contact with one another. \nSunday public services of worship at 8 a.m.\, 10:30 a.m.\, and 1 p.m. will be discontinued\, as will Godly Play and Discovery Classes for the next two weeks and until further notice. \nThe Spring Equinox liturgy set for March 19 is cancelled\, although we plan to use the planning and resources already expended for the upcoming Summer Solstice on Friday\, June 19th. \nLast year\, in the aftermath of our sacristy fire\, we were dislocated as a body; we worshipped outdoors and in our chapel\, and we served without use of our church building. Many of us discovered ourselves and one another anew as a body. We discovered that we are the church. \nWhile our primary gatherings are cancelled\, this is an especially important time to be the body of Christ. I look forward to the creative ways our body will find to do that in ways that promote health. You will likely be receiving more frequent online messaging as this new work unfolds. \nOne of the chief roles of a Cathedral church\, in addition to being the seat of the bishop\, is to be the gathering place for visitors and the whole church. Since we do not have time to set up virtual liturgies between now and Sunday\, please consider attending our St. Mark’s Cathedral 11 a.m. liturgy virtually (there will be no “in-person” service). \nThe Daily Offices of Morning and Evening Prayer are a traditional form of daily prayer. You may discover this resource for yourself or your household virtually. \nPlease feel free to contact me if you have questions\, comments\, pastoral needs\, or resources to share at kevindavidpearson@gmail.com. \nYours as part of our one body\, \nFr. Kevin

Kevin
